What makes a venue good for the drone
Not every pałac is cinematic from above. A good aerial-wedding venue combines four factors: geometry (a baroque or renaissance ground plan with a symmetry axis readable from 80 m), surroundings (water, park, forest, vineyard, mountains - whatever delivers depth and scale), airspace freedom (outside Warsaw's CTR EPWA, outside a national park exclusion, outside a military zone) and travel distance from Warsaw (1.5 PLN/km road cost for the crew). All four together is rare, and the 12 venues below are those where at least three of four conditions line up.
Mazovia - 3 venues within an hour of Warsaw
1. Belweder Palace, Warsaw
The benchmark Warsaw wedding venue. The baroque five-wing plan with a central axis reads perfectly from 60 m - a single pull-back from 25 to 90 m gathers the entire pałac, the Łazienki park behind it and the Mokotów skyline in one frame. Best month - May-June (green park, golden hour at 20:30) or late September (foliage colour). Constraint - Warsaw CTR EPWA: tower coordination required, PAŻP clearance filed 7 days ahead. Signature shot: a 50 m radius orbit with the pałac at centre and facade uplight 15 minutes before sunset.
2. Pałac w Jabłonnie, Jabłonna
An 18th-century residence 25 km from Warsaw with a water axis, a Chinese pavilion and an English-landscape park. The pałac reads from the air through the pond reflection - a rare angle in Poland where the building's geometry doubles itself in water. Best month - June-July (full water level) or late September. No CTR constraint (outside EPWA), but a PAN (Polish Academy of Sciences) permit is required - the Folwark administrator signs off 2-3 days ahead. Signature shot: an approach over the pond, the pałac emerges from behind trees, transition into a 40 m orbit.
3. Pałac Mała Wieś, Belsk Duży
A classicist property from 1783, 65 km south of Warsaw. The strength - a geometric French-baroque parterre (parterre, radii, fountain at centre) plus a forest behind as natural backdrop. Best month - June (parterre in full bloom). No CTR, no environmental restriction, the drone has full airspace over the property. Signature shot: a vertical top-down from 90 m over the fountain with the couple walking through the parterre - a frame that sells the film to the client in 8 seconds.
Małopolska and Podkarpacie - 3 venues for a premium wedding
4. Kasztel w Szymbarku, Szymbark
A 16th-century renaissance fortified manor with corner towers, set against the Beskid Niski range. From the air it works through the contrast of a geometric structure against a natural mountain ridge. Best month - late September (golden Beskid foliage) or early June. Constraint - close to Magurski National Park (boundary 3-4 km), flight over the kasztel is allowed but 1 km east already restricted. Signature shot: a sunset orbit at 60 m, kasztel in the lower third of the frame, mountains filling the upper two thirds.
5. Pałac Sulisław, Sulisław
A property on the Opole-Lower Silesia border, a restored 19th-century pałac with an 18 ha park and an in-house lavender field (July). The drone-side strength - the lavender field at peak bloom in July rounds out the film palette in a way few venues can: purple parterre, green border, white pałac. No environmental restriction, no CTR. Signature shot: the couple walks a path through the lavender, the drone rises top-down from 8 to 60 m, revealing the pałac in the background.
6. Zamek Krasiczyn, Krasiczyn
One of the finest renaissance castles in Poland, four corner towers with unique domes, a 14 ha park, 200 km south-east of Kraków. The aerial magic - a symmetric castle plan against the San river and the Beskid Niski. Best month - September (park colours). Constraint - proximity to the Ukrainian border and RPAS surveillance zone, flight is legal but requires 24-hour notification to PAŻP. Signature shot: a vertical top-down over the castle courtyard from 100 m, the towers and shadows form a baroque mandala pattern.
Lower Silesia, Pomerania, Warmia - 3 venues of nature and architecture
7. Pałac Wojanów, Wojanów (Karkonosze)
A neo-gothic pałac at the foot of the Karkonosze (Giant Mountains), 80 km west of Wrocław. From the air the geometry of gothic towers against the ridge works, varying with cloud cover. Best month - May (green Karkonosze, blooming park) or October (golden mountains). Constraint - 6 km from Karkonoski National Park, flight over the pałac is allowed, further south is not. Signature shot: a 70 m orbit with the pałac at centre, Karkonosze filling the upper third of the frame, May golden hour at 20:00.
8. Folwark Hutta, Pszczonów (Masuria-Mazovia border)
A restored folwark (estate farm) with a clear courtyard geometry, surrounded by Masurian fields and forests. The aerial contrast of the orderly courtyard against the chaotic natural surroundings works, and a top-down reveals a rare 19th-century estate-farm layout. Best month - late August (golden fields). No CTR or park constraints. Signature shot: top-down from 80 m over the courtyard, August golden hour at 19:30, rapeseed or buckwheat fields in the background.
9. Pałac w Galinach, Galiny (Warmia)
A 15th-16th century renaissance pałac in Warmia with a Trakehner horse stud and on-site vineyards. The aerial strength - a rare combination of pałac, vineyard and stables in a single frame, almost unique in Poland. Best month - late September (vineyards in fruit). No CTR. Signature shot: an orbit over the vineyard with the pałac in the background, September golden hour at 18:30, horses on the pasture as a bonus shot.
Tatras, Beskids, Wielkopolska - 3 venues of mountain and park drama
10. Hotel Aries, Zakopane (Tatra plein-air)
Hotel Aries on its own is standard Zakopane architecture, but plein-air sessions around Zakopane (Gubałówka, Kotelnica, Polana Głodówka) deliver dramatic frames with the Tatras behind. Best month - late September (golden Tatra autumn) or late February (snow-capped peaks). Hard constraint - TPN (Tatra National Park) - a complete drone-flight ban within park boundaries, including everything south of the Kuźnice-Bukowina-Tatrzańska line. Flights only on meadows outside TPN, usually north of Zakopane. Signature shot: a pull-back from the couple on a meadow, the Tatras rising into the upper half of the frame from 30 to 100 m.
11. Hotel Klimczok, Szczyrk (Beskids)
A hotel at the foot of Klimczok in the Silesian Beskids. The hotel itself is not remarkable, but the surroundings - forest, streams, mountain meadows - work from the air, particularly for couple plein-air sessions. Best month - late May (green meadows, blooms) or October. Constraint - proximity to the Silesian Beskid Landscape Park, no full flight ban but notification to the park administration is required. Signature shot: an FPV cinewhoop passes between trees from the couple's side, opens out toward the hotel from 30 m.
12. Bobolice Castle, Bobolice (Kraków-Częstochowa Jura)
A 14th-century castle on a limestone outcrop, rebuilt in the 2000s. From the air the unique landscape works - the castle atop an outcrop, rocks around it, forest below. Best month - October (forest colours contrast with white limestone). No CTR, no national park, but the Jura is partly a landscape park - flight is legal but notifying the administration is advisable. Signature shot: a pull-back from the castle from 40 to 120 m, revealing the entire outcrop massif.
Cinematic recipes - 4 shot types for the wedding film
- Pull-back reveal: couple at centre of frame, drone rises from 8 to 70 m, revealing the venue. Works at Belweder, Jabłonna, Wojanów, Hutta. Length 8-12 seconds, cut into the film's most emotional beat.
- Sunset orbit: drone circles the pałac or the couple at a constant altitude of 40-60 m, 30-50 m radius. Facade uplight gives the film-look finish. Works at Belweder, Mała Wieś, Wojanów, Krasiczyn. Best window - 15 minutes before sunset, 20-minute window.
- Top-down mandala: a vertical frame from 80-100 m, showing the geometry of the building or parterre. Works at Krasiczyn (castle courtyard), Mała Wieś (parterre with fountain), Hutta (folwark). Length 6-10 seconds, cut as a chapter break.
- FPV cinewhoop through gates and windows: a low-speed drone pass through gateways, under arcades, between columns. Works at Krasiczyn, Belweder, Wojanów. Requires a pilot with an additional NSTS-05 licence, +1,800 PLN over the standard package.

When a couple chooses a wedding venue they think about guests, catering and interior. Almost nobody thinks about how the venue looks from above - and that is a mistake. Belweder from the air sells the film in 3 seconds, Hutta sells it in 8, and a certain Beskid hotel where we shot in 2024 does not sell at all - dull geometry from above, parking lot for surroundings. If the couple has a drone budget, I tell them to pick the venue together with the videography crew six months before the date.
Frequently asked questions
- Which venue is the easiest in terms of flight permits?
- Pałac Mała Wieś, Folwark Hutta and Pałac w Galinach - three venues without CTR constraints, without a national park nearby and without military zones. Flight runs under standard UAVO A2/NSTS-01 procedures, no PAŻP filing needed. The hardest from the twelve - Hotel Aries and the Tatras (full TPN ban), Belweder (Warsaw CTR EPWA, clearance 7 days ahead), Krasiczyn (Ukrainian border proximity, 24-hour notification). If paperwork is a red flag for the couple, pick from the Mazovian block.
- Can the drone fly during the ceremony?
- Yes, under two conditions. First - the drone runs in low-power mode with muted prop noise (DJI Mavic 3 Cine at 35 m sits below 45 dB, which does not disturb the ceremony). Second - consent from the priest or officiant and acceptance from the couple of the prop-sound risk in the final film. From our 2023-2025 experience, 78 percent of ceremonies agree to the drone, 22 percent ask to mute it during the vows and shoot only before and after. Both arrangements are sorted in 5 minutes at the rehearsal.
- Which month is best for golden-hour orbit shots?
- May-June and September - the three best months for a drone wedding in Poland. May-June: golden hour 20:00-21:00, long, soft light, parks in full bloom. September: golden hour 18:30-19:30, autumn foliage, low sun delivers more dramatic shadows. July-August are weaker due to flat midday light and pink-red colour cast. Winter weddings (January-February) deliver unique snow shots in the Tatras and Karkonosze, but the light window is only 14:00-15:30 and weather-cancellation risk is higher.
- Do we receive raw drone clips or only the final edit?
- In the standard package - only the final edit, 60-90 seconds (drone-only) or an 8-minute film (full package). Raw 4K clips (around 80-120 GB of material for a full shooting day) are delivered on request, +800 PLN over the package, shipped on a 256 GB pendrive or via WeTransfer Pro. We hand over all flight clips, colour-graded or unprocessed at your choice. Raw copyright stays with VisionAir, but the personal and family-use licence is unrestricted.
- Can we book a shoot outside Mazovia, for example in Karkonosze or the Tatras?
- Yes, travel across Poland is standard practice. Pricing: package price plus around 1.5 PLN per kilometre from Warsaw round-trip plus crew lodging (250-380 PLN/person in a mid-range hotel). To Krasiczyn (380 km from Warsaw) or Wojanów (450 km) the travel adds 1,600-2,100 PLN on top of the package. For weddings in the Tatras or Karkonosze we recommend arriving a day early for a venue reconnaissance and weather check - billed as a separate line item.
